2010-11 Competition

2010-11 Theme - “Together We Can”

That's right, it's time for the PTA Reflections program and this year the theme is “Together We Can”. For the newcomers who may not know, Reflections is a PTA-founded art program that offers students the opportunity to create art for fun and recognition. Students are encouraged to create and submit works of art in six areas: literature, photography, musical composition, dance choreography, film/video
production and the visual arts (which include art forms such as drawing, painting, printmaking, and collage). With a theme as broad as “Together We Can”, it's going to be exciting to see what the kids come up with!

Student's works are critiqued against others in the same grade division and yes, the program does follow a contest format but winning is not the emphasis. Each student is formally recognized simply for participating as it is meant to encourage the arts through imagination and individuality. Each art project must be an original and created solely by the student and should be worked on at home.

Here are links to the student entry form, which must be attached to each entry, general rules, and also specific rules for each category. Please make sure to read through all of it very carefully! Student entry forms and rule packets will also be available in the office.

We will also have Lunchtime Reflections Art Clinics on Wednesdays, Oct. 13, 20, and 27. These will be held in the MPR during the recess portion of lunch. Students will have the opportunity to create visual art pieces using art docent materials.

A special assembly will take place at the end of the school year where every entry will be displayed and each student's participation will be acknowledged.
